Slow Stick Clipped Wing Modification.

We have not tried this mod here at Everything Slow Stick so it would be great to receive your feedback and comments as to the end result. contact@slowstick.co.uk

What's the purpose of this mod? - The aim of clipping the Slow Stick's wings is basically to improve the responsiveness of the controls and make the model less susceptible to flair in windy conditions. The model is never going to be one that can be flown in anything less than relatively still air but if this helps then great!

With regard to actually carrying out the modification its simply a case of drawing a straight line from the leading edge to the trailing edge upon the first rib in from the wing tip and cutting with a sharp craft knife. See photo of a clipped wing below.

User Comments

"I recently dropped a stock slow stick off a counter at a local hobby store and damaged the wing tip. I decided to clip the wings to get rid of the damaged area so I could go and fly again. I gotta say that with the wings clipped it will fly a little bit faster and a little more responsive but I seem to have lost some of the lift I previously had with the wing tips intact. I didn't get to fly but about seven or eight minutes due to my friend running his slow stick into mine. Unfortunately the accident destroyed my clipped wings and my prop but didn't harm anything else. I will clip my wings again after I get it set up for brushless outrunner. I think it is a smarter idea to stick with the stock wing with the stock motor." Adam S.
