Slow Stick Thrust Modification

What's the purpose of this mod? - The thrust modification for the Slow Stick is in the eyes of most model owners an essential one, particularly if the models thrust output has been upgraded by the implementation of a brushless motor.

Both the stock and upgraded Slow Stick have a nasty habit of pitching up when power is applied. The thrust mod angles the motor down 3 degrees and right 3 degrees. This not only counteracts the upward pitching of the aircraft under power but also counteracts the models tendency to roll to the left due to torque reaction.

With this modification the Slow Stick will perform as expected under power without excessive trimming (which has undesirable effects when gliding).

The drawing below describes a mount that fits neatly into the front of the Slow Stick fuselage, its up to you whether you screw or glue the mount in place. The motor is then mounted onto the front section, 3 degrees down and 3 degrees to the right seems to be the perfect amount of offset.

The motor is pushed forward as a result of this modification and it will be necessary to adjust the balance of the model.

The GWS Slow Stick is a fun model right out of the box in stock configuration. Adding an adjustable thrust line motor stick allows you to trim in down and right thrust to suit. Imagine going from cruise to wide open throttle and the model does not automatically go into a loop! Makes the aircraft much smoother and more trim neutral whether flying around or doing wacked out 3 channel aerobatics. Comes in an easy build laser cut kit. All fasteners and washers included. Good SAE socket head fasteners. Simply build the kit, remove your motor mount from the GWS motor stick, slide our mount on, bolt to fuse, put your motor mount on the adjustable stick and run the bolt through. Now do some trial flights and adjust to taste. Allows for thrust lines from 0-8 degrees down and 0-3 degrees right. Also useful for Millinium RC SSX and SS Trainer kits. Fantastic addition to any Slow Stick being used as teaching aids as the thrust line may be adjusted to demonstrate effects. Also usefull for Sticks turned into Canards as it works just perfect in pusher configuration also.
