Slow Stick
Undercarriage Modifications
Modifications to the Slow Stick's
landing gear are common place as the original equipment can
be best described as flimsy ! If your models AUW is above
that of the standard GWS design then modifying the landing
gear is a must, particularly if your runway is less than a
manicured golf green :)
Many Slow Stick owners reinforce the existing landing gear
by fitting a 'cross member' between the undercarriage legs
as shown in the picture below. The idea is to prevent the
legs spreading upon impact with the ground and allowing the
prop to hit. The simplest method to achieve this is with
small gauge wire either tied or soldered in place. Be
careful not to place the wire too close to the ground or it
may get caught in the grass and flip your model ! |

Upgraded
wheels with foam tires are a great addition to the Slow
Stick. They also look so much better than the originals !
A great source of foam wheels can be found at Hobby Lobby in
America.

Alternatively
Millennium RC manufacture the fantastic X-Gear. Light,
incredibly strong and an ideal upgrade even for a standard
Slow Stick.
